A boxing exhibition in Yorktown on Saturday, May 20, will benefit St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, an internationaly known medical center specializing in the treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
The event -- Fighting for a Cause -- will feature more than 10 amateur bouts, with all proceeds going to benefit the hospital.
The event, at the Solaris Sports Club at 201 Veterans Road in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. The sports charity event was organized by Manuel Feliz, a boxer and personal trainer from Mount Kisco.
St. Jude's is recognized for its pioneering work in its work with children. Founded by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, and based in Memphis, TN, St. Jude's shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Judge's is financially supported by its own fund-raising organization. St. Jude's said in a statement that "money raised in this event will help ensure that children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases will have a better chance to live."
