Begin to explore the fundamental aspects of the ancient teachings of Ashtanga
yoga during this two-hour introductory workshop on Sunday, June 8 from 1:30-3:30pm. Experience the dynamic vinyasa sequence taught and developed by T. Krishnamacharya and K. Patthabi Jois. By binding the breath, gaze and posture,
the steadiness and concentration acquired through this method develops a deeper understanding of hatha yoga and self.
We will review the postures and gazing points of the first half of the primary sequence including sun salutations A&B, all standing postures, hip opening and forward bending seated postures, and finishing poses. The mechanics of jump-throughs and jump-backs will also be covered. During this practice session we will also begin to unravel the powerful techniques used to regulate the breath and create heat in the body.
