2nd annual Hudson River EagleFest at Teatown Lake Reservation, coinciding with the annual winter gathering of these magnificent birds of prey along the Hudson River. Snow, rain or shine.
From 9:00am-3:00pm, eagle-spotting sites include: boat ramp near Croton train station, George’s Island in Montrose and Charles Point Park in Peekskill. Warming tents, nature guides and hot chocolate available. Guides will be on hand to answer questions about the birds and their habitat and warming tents and hot chocolate will be available. At Teatown’s Nature Center, visitors can see live captive eagles and learn about the history of the eagle in the Hudson Valley, attend programs about viewing and photographing eagles in the wild, and participate in eagle-themed crafts. Other eagle programs at Beczak Environmental Education Center, Croton Point Nature Center, Van Cortlandt Manor and Constitution Marsh Audubon Center.
At 1:00pm, the film, Eagle Odyssey will be shown at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, followed by a live birds of prey demonstration presented by Jennifer Pena of Flight of the Raptor. Following the program there will be a reception that will include an up-close look at the birds.
FREE eagle spotting map for the Hudson Hills and Highlands region are available at M&T Bank, Teatown and participating collaborator locations. The map reveals 18 eagle-viewing sites along the Hudson River.
Free Teatown admission. Jacob Burns Film Center admission is $9/Teatown and Jacob Burns members; $13/Non-Members; $6.50 kids (12 and under)
