Third Annual Support Connection Golf Outing Presented By Club Fit (9:00AM - 3:00PM)

A benefit tournament to help raise funds for Support Connection’s free breast and ovarian cancer support services. The tournament is set up in a scramble format, and includes continental breakfast, putting clinic, beverage cart service, deluxe luncheon and awards, with goodie bags for all players. Baby Wrap Sling Class (2:00PM - 3:00PM)
Learn and explore the amazing parenting technique of babywearing, which has been practiced for centuries because of the many benefits to baby and parent, from bonding to hands-free carrying. Using a wrap style sling, you will learn the three basic holds for your child in a warm and supportive atmosphere. This class is appropriate for parents with a baby within their wrap sling’s weight limit or parents expecting a baby. Participants should bring a wrap sling and their baby. If you have a small baby, we also recommend bringing something to rest baby on occasionally while practicing (car seat or blanket, etc.). We also recommend bringing a doll or stuffed bear to practice with in addition to your baby or if you are expecting a baby. Non-constricting clothing recommended for both baby and parent. Please note that other sling styles (pouches, ring slings, etc.) are not covered in this class.

Join Adiel Gavish -- Sustainability Strategist, Cameron-Cole, LLC, and Program Director, Federated Conservationists of Westchester County at Teatown Lake Reservation for a fascinating presentation and discussion on “biomimicry.”

Biomimicry is a new discipline that studies nature’s best ideas and then imitates these designs and processes to solve human problems. Nature is the residing green guru after conducting research and design for 3.85 billion years.

There are 50 million species on this planet that hold the secret ingredients of successful sustainable design. In order to live in balance with the natural world and make things that are life-friendly, we must look to nature as our mentor, model and measure.

This talk will look at what “green” really means, how nature "makes" things, and how we can apply and integrate life’s principles into everything we make and do. Attendees will participate in design challenges.

Energy efficient buildings inspired by passive cooling in termite mounds, growing a business like a rainforest, and non-toxic fabric finishes inspired by water repellant lotus plants are examples of biomimicry changing our world today.
