Two Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation Documentaries:
Dr. Price’s Search For Health
This documentary surveys the research of Dr. Weston A. Price, DDS, and reveals the effect of diet on native peoples around the world, showing that dental cavities, misalignment of teeth, increased susceptibility to disease and physical and mental degeneration are largely attributable to modern processed foods. Though produced thirty years ago, the message of the film remains timeless and the nutritional and health information is surprisingly relevant to today’s health conscious consumer. runtime: 27 minutes
Pottenger Cat Studies
A historical documentary surveying the 10-year nutrition studies conducted by Francis M. Pottenger, Jr., MD, on more than 900 cats. It reveals that a cooked meat and pasteurized milk diet led to the progressive degeneration of the animals. Comparison of healthy cats on raw foods with those on heated diets is made, with mention of parallel findings among humans in Dr. Weston A. Price’s worldwide studies. Arthritis, sterility, skeletal deformities, allergies and behavioral abnormalities are some of the problems that were associated with the consumption of a diet of cooked foods. Run-time: 16 minutes.
In recent months, there has been considerable public discussion about disruptive effects of global warming on agriculture, business and flooding – and how mitigating these problems will require changes in energy production, transportation systems and agricultural practices. But what effects is global warming having on Mother Nature? Join Executive Director Dr. Fred Koontz to learn how our local fauna and flora already is responding to rising temperatures, and what we can do today to help nature survive this environmental challenge. Pre-registration required. Free. Adults.

Vankenn Productions will present a concert of gospel songs that will take the audience through the evolution of gospel music in the United States. Westchester Philharmonic Presents Key Signatures (8:00PM) This spring the Westchester Philharmonic continues its long-standing tradition of introducing audiences to ground-breaking musical developments and emerging young artists. On Saturday, April 5th at 8 pm and Sunday, April 6th at 3 pm Westchester-based composer Laura Kaminsky, also Dean of Music at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music and Curator of Music Programs at New York City’s renowned Symphony Space, will premiere Terra Terribilis. A concerto for percussion and orchestra, Kaminsky’s workexplores the sonic world of three different percussion families (skins, metals, and mallets), giving the Westchester Philharmonic’s immensely talented percussion section a long-overdue chance to shine. Written as an outcry against the destruction of our planet, Terra Terribilis, like much of Kaminsky’s work, is influenced by the vast physical and cultural environments she has experienced in her travels as an artist, and she is committed to exploring how “artists can be a part of the dialogue around critical concerns facing our world.” Kaminsky will speak in detail about the premiere at free pre-concert discussions for ticket holders. Led by Music Director and Conductor Paul Lustig Dunkel the discussions begin at 6:45 pm on April 5th and 1:45 pm on April 6th. From new work to an emerging artist, 22-year-old violinist Christine Kwak will take the stage for DvoYák’s Violin Concerto.Hailed as “the most promising talent of the next generation” (Strad), she was first discovered on CNN’s “About Child Prodigies” at age five playing piano and violin as well as several of her own piano compositions. Kwak later made her Lincoln Center debut at the Avery Fisher Hall with American Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine.
Befitting the orchestra’s season-long 25th anniversary celebration, the program will also featureMozart’s expressive Symphony No. 25, perhaps best known as the score for the opening sequence of the film Amadeus.
All performances will take place in The Concert Hall at The Performing Arts Center Purchase College, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, New York.
