10 Student Athletes Named To Fall CACC Team At Concordia
Bronxville, NY - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) has introduced its All-Academic Team for the 2011 fall athletic season.
In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, recipients must have participated in a CACC-Championship sport in the fall. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
Kareena Seaton (Medford, NY) is the lone recipient on the women's soccer team. Seaton, a senior majoring in Social Sciences was named for the second time in her four-year career. On the women’s tennis team, Ana S.O. Mendes (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) was named to the team for the first time. A junior majoring in Liberal Sciences, Mendes was named the CACC Women’s Tennis MVP following conference tournament. Yuliya Plevako (Astana, Kazakhstan), also a member of the tennis team, was named for the second time to the CACC All-Academic Team. Plevako, a junior majoring in Business Administration, went 8-2 at #1 Singles for the tennis team which captured their third straight conference championship this past October.
Shelley Monahan (Exeter, RI) of the women’s cross country team was named for the first time in her career at Concordia. Monahan, a senior majoring in Education was a four year guard on the women’s basketball team prior to her first season with cross country. On the men’s cross country team, Martin Miedzowicz (Montevideo, Uruguay), a sophomore majoring in Business Administration, was named for the first time as well.
The Clippers’ volleyball team had a total of five student-athletes named to the CACC All-Academic Team. Chelsea Zurcher (Crofton, MD), a junior majoring in Liberal Arts, was named for the second time in her career while senior Dana St. Cyr (Cornwall, NY), also a Liberal Arts major, was named for her first time. Sophomores Alexis Balyeat (Elkhart, IN), a Liberal Arts major, Brittany Chappas (Islip, NY), an Education major, and Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, NY), a Nursing major, round out the award recipients for the volleyball team.
