Vitality Day At Phelps Free For Seniors
Sleepy Hollow, NY - On Thursday, May 24, 2012, Phelps Memorial Hospital Center will recognize National Older Americans Month with Vitality Day - A Celebration for Seniors.
The day will start at Phelps with various free health screenings for blood pressure, glucose level, lung capacity, balance and more, which will be conducted in the C-Level Classroom from 9 am to 12 pm.
At 10 am, there will be a presentation in the Phelps auditorium by Mae Carpenter, Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services. Commissioner Carpenter has long been known as an advocate for older adults and someone who is dedicated to making Westchester County a more livable place for seniors. She will speak about steps Westchester County has taken to address the needs of its older residents.
Next, participants can enjoy a midday tour of Kendal on Hudson, a continuing care retirement community located on the hospital campus along the Hudson River, with a stop at Kendal's dining room for a delicious lunch generously provided to tour participants. Reservations are required for the Kendal tour and space is limited.
At 2 pm, seniors can choose from among three educational workshops that will be held on the Phelps campus.
Vitality Day will end with a senior mixer from 4 to 6 pm at Atria, an independent and supportive living community in Briarcliff Manor. There, seniors can enjoy food prepared by Atria's master chef and stroll around the grounds, which feature many flowered paths and patios. Reservations are required for the mixer and space is limited.
