Stream Bank Stabilization Workshop
White Plains, NY - A one-day stream bank stabilization workshop will be held Nov. 2 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. The workshop is designed to give professionals from the private and public sectors information on the methods used to stabilize eroding stream banks and protect infrastructure and property from damaging, flood-swollen streams. The all-day workshop will run from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Stream bank stabilization also may help municipalities comply with state and federal stormwater regulations and reduce the amount of pollutant-laden sediment entering the county’s reservoirs, the Long Island Sound and the Hudson River to improve water quality.
The workshop, cosponsored by the county Department of Planning and the county Soil and Water Conservation District, will feature speakers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (New York District), Pinelands Nursery, the planning and engineering firm of Parsons Brinckerhoff, and the environmental consulting firms, Bioengineering Group and Amy S. Greene Environmental Consultants, Inc.
The deadline for registration is Oct. 26. Registration is limited to 150 persons, so early registration is encouraged.
