Prize Winning Authors To Speak At Pelham Art Center
Pelham, NY - Geared to book-lovers and writers of all kinds, Pelham Art Center’s Emerging Writers Series will feature published authors embarking on promising careers as well as editors of literary magazines and publishing companies, who will give behind-the-scenes insights into getting work published.
For the first of the series, Seth Fried will read from his debut collection of short stories; and Hannah Tinti, author and editor, will also read from her work. The two will discuss how the roles of author and editor work together. The audience is invited to ask questions and discuss.
Hannah Tinti is co-founder and Editor in Chief of One Story. She developed her editorial skills working at literary agencies and magazines including The Atlantic Monthly, Boston Review and Washington Square. In 2009 she won the PEN/Nora Magid award for her editorial work at One Story. Her short story collection, Animal Crackers, has sold in sixteen countries and was a runner up for the PEN/Hemingway award. Her novel, The Good Thief, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, a recipient of the American Library Association’s Alex Award, and winner of the John Sargent Sr. First Novel Prize. Recently, she joined the cast of the Public Radio Program Selected Shorts, as their literary commentator.
Seth Fried’s debut 2011 short story collection has been extremely well reviewed. He received the Pushcart Prize for his hilarious short story “Frost Mountain Picnic Massacre” and has been published in numerous publications.
