WJCS Center Lane Director Honored
White Plains, NY - James Stewart, Director of WJCS’ Center Lane, was honored with the Adult Leadership Award by the Hudson Valley Chapter of GLSEN at their recent annual dinner.
Center Lane provides the only two community centers for 14-21 year old lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in Westchester.
Mr. Stewart was recognized for his contributions toward promoting a safe, vibrant community for LGBTQ teens. He has expanded the Center Lane program to serve young people in lower Westchester and he provides principled, compassionate and dedicated support that offers opportunities for involvement, advocacy and healthy socialization. A leader and spokesperson for the LGBTQ youth in Westchester County, Mr. Stewart works tirelessly to support LGBTQ youth and their families and to educate those in the community who work with youth.
