Mika Brzezinski To Speak At WEDC Luncheon
White Plains, NY - Women. Worth. Wealth ... If you are interested in any or all of these topics then don't miss hearing Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," speak about how women can achieve their deserved recognition and financial worth at the Annual Spring Luncheon and Marketplace to benefit the Women's Enterprise Development Center (WEDC).
Brzezinski, a former CBS-TV news correspondent and daughter of foreign policy expert Zbigniew Brzezinkski, examines the role of women in the workplace in her book Knowing Your Value: Women, Money, and Getting What You're Worth, which achieved the Number One ranking for business books on The New York Times best seller list in the spring of 2011. Knowing Your Value will be given out as a gift to all luncheon attendees in celebration of WEDC's15th anniversary. The event emcee will be Tara Rosenblum, anchor for News 12 Westchester and the Hudson Valley Weekend Edition. Rosenblum has earned more than three-dozen major industry awards, including three Emmy awards and eighteen Emmy nominations.
"It is especially fitting that Mika will be discussing her book on helping women achieve the compensation they deserve as our mission at WEDC is to empower women - and men - to create and grow successful businesses," said Anne Janiak, the organization's executive director. "We look forward to hearing her share her insights.” Janiak said that WEDC’s goal is to build a vibrant community of women entrepreneurs by providing high-quality, low-cost training programs and support services to both start-up and established business owners in Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley.
At the luncheon, the organization will honor IBM as a Corporate Supporter; Susan M. Corcoran, Esq. of Jackson Lewis LLP as a Community Supporter; and Diana Gould of Diana Gould Ltd. and Abigail Kirsch of Abigail Kirsch Catering Relationships for Entrepreneurial Excellence. WEDC also will announce the winners of ten equity awards (ranging from $4,000 to $5,000) from the Lanza Enterprise Award Program (LEAP), given to help women entrepreneurs boost their businesses to the next level.
