Albany, NY - The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that repaving on some Cross Westchester Expressway ramps is set to begin on Monday, November 17. The work will necessitate lane closures on the ramps from I-287 eastbound and Midland Avenue to the New England Thruway (I-95) northbound.
Weather permitting, alternating lane closures will be in place on the ramp from I-287 eastbound on Monday, November 17 through Thursday, November 20 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., and on Friday, November 21, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.
The entrance ramp from Midland Avenue will be closed on Monday, November 17 through Thursday, November 20 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., and on Friday, November 21, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., also weather permitting. A detour will be in place from Midland Avenue southbound to Playland Parkway to I-95 northbound. The detour from Midland Avenue northbound will guide motorists through local roads in Connecticut to I-95 northbound. Signs will be posted to advise motorists of the detour routes.
Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM will be activated to inform the public of the lane closures.
This $16.8 million dollar project was awarded to Tully Construction Company, Inc. of Flushing, NY. It includes repaving and safety upgrades on I-87 from the city line to Exit 8 (Cross Westchester Expressway [I-287], White Plains) and is scheduled for completion in late November, 2009.
