Westchester Traffic NewsAlbany, NY - The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that rehabilitation work on the ramp from I-95 (New England Thruway) southbound to the Hutchinson River Parkway southbound will necessitate the overnight closure of the ramp.

This work is necessary in order to complete an ongoing repaving project currently underway on I-95.

On Tuesday, July 22 and Wednesday, July 23, the southbound Exit 14 (Hutchinson River Parkway South) exit ramp from I-95 will be closed, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. This is necessary to remove and replace the current asphalt overlay on the exit ramp.

There will be signs notifying motorists of the following detour route : I-95 south to Exit 8C (Pelham Parkway West), on to Pelham Parkway, where motorists can access the Hutchinson River Parkway southbound.

The Authority's Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will be activated and in place in advance of the southbound exit ramp. As always, motorists are encouraged to drive with caution through work zones and obey all posted work zone speed limit signs.

The overall repaving project which spans I-95 from Exit 17 (Larchmont) to Exit 8 (Orchard Beach, City Island) includes shoulder repaving, repairs to the pavement and repairs to the bridges at Amtrak/Erskine Place, Eastchester Creek, Hutchinson River Parkway and Reynolds Lane Underpass.

ECCO III Enterprises, Inc., of Yonkers, New York was awarded the $28.2 million contract in August 2006. The overall repaving project is scheduled for completion in November 2008. The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while these necessary repairs take place.

The Authority offers a free email service called TRANSalert to its customers via email or text messaging to inform them of major unscheduled incidents that may affect their travel on the Thruway. To sign up for the TRANSalert service, customers can visit the Authority's website at www.nysthruway.gov/tas/.
