Weehawken, NJ - Effective December 1, NY Waterway is eliminating fuel surcharges on multi-trip tickets on all routes operating between Manhattan and Port Imperial in Weehawken, 14th Street in Hoboken, Edgewater Ferry Landing in Bergen County and Belford in Monmouth County.
Many monthly commuters will save $21 or one dollar per work day.
Because of skyrocketing fuel prices, surcharges were instituted June 1 on several commuter ferry routes and on July 1 on the Belford-Manhattan route. Although fuel prices continued to rise during the summer, NY Waterway did not institute an additional surcharge September 1.
Under the new fare structure, effective December 1, monthly passes will cost:
· $635 between Belford and Manhattan, a savings of $21;
· $232 between Port Imperial and Manhattan’s West 39th Street Ferry Terminal, a savings of $10.50;
· $232 between Hoboken-14th Street and West 39th Street, saving $10.50;
· $232 between Weehawken’s Lincoln Harbor and West 39th Street, saving $10.50;
· $314 between Edgewater in Bergen County and West 39th Street, savings $21;
· $311.50 between Port Imperial and Wall Street’s Pier 11, saving $21;
· $311.50 between Port Imperial and the World Financial Center, saving $21;
· $261.30 between Hoboken-14th Street and the World Financial Center, saving $21.
There are comparable savings on 10-trip and 40-trip passes.
