Yonkers, NY - Mayor Phil Amicone and the Yonkers Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation invite residents and non-residents of all ages to stay active in the coming autumn months by participating in the many programs and activities described in a free brochure that is available by mail or by visiting the city's website.
The autumn line-up includes a 30-week, morning Pre- K program offered at four convenient locations starting the week of September 15 (registration for Pre-K begins on September 3). Meanwhile, children 5-12 years old can participate in a wide variety of Saturday morning workshops that begin on September 20. Teen programs are scheduled for Saturday mornings or weeknights. Adults have day and evening programs from which to choose, and many fun activities are also planned for senior citizens.
Swimming programs are held at the Mark Twain School and Yonkers Avenue pools, including learn-to- swim classes, and exercise and Masters Swimming for ages 19-99. In addition, competitive swimmers can compete for a spot on the Yonkers Tsunami Swim Team.
Information about the programs above, as well as, ice skating and ice hockey at the Murray Skating Center, Saturday baby-sitting classes, and a dog obedience school, is included in the free brochure.
