Scarsdale Historical Society Fall Foliage Race

Westchester Sports & Recreation NewsScarsdale, NY - A popular feature will again be included in the Scarsdale Historical Society's 28th Annual Fall Foliage Run and 21st "Walk for Fun" on Sunday, October 19th:  a Kids’ and  Dogs’ Run.

The 2.5K (1.55-mile) Walk and the 2.5K Kids’ and  Dogs’ run start at 2:30 p.m., and the 5K race at 3 p.m., rain or shine, at the I.H.M. parking lot across from the Scarsdale Historical Society.

Registration forms will be sent to members and all previous entrants. Extra forms can be obtained at Society headquarters, 937 Post Rd. (corner Boulevard), and from most race sponsors.

The pre-registration deadline is October 10th. Until then, entry fees will be $15 for adults, $13 for under-18's. Race-day registration, for an additional $2, will be accepted at the Society starting at 1p.m. on Sunday, October 19th. There will be a 50% discount for those with NEW memberships of $50 or more.

At post-race ceremonies, John Sweeney trophies will be presented to the first Overall 5K Race male and female finishers, and awards will be provided to the first three Run finishers in each age group. Stanley Newhouse trophies will be awarded to the first Scarsdale Master (50 & over) male and female 5K run finishers. Ribbons will be presented to all walkers and kids and bones for the dogs.

Sponsors include the Scarsdale Recreation Department, Scarsdale Police Department, DeCicco Marketplace, Efficiency Printing, Equinox, the Forte family, Hartsdale Veterinary Hospital,  Adam Krajchir, Metro Sports Magazine,  Prudential Centennial Realty,   Race with Purpose, Scarsdale  Antiques Running Club, Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce, Scarsdale Improvement Corp., Scarsdale Spencer Pharmacy,  Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club,  Dr. Robert Silverman, Starbucks,  Trader Joe's, Weinberg Nature Center, Westchester Road Runners, Wilson & Sons Jewelers, and volunteers from the Arthur Manor and Drake-Edgewood Neighborhood Associations.

It was scaled down this year, and kind of disappointing. Last year there was table massages and a booth from Eqinox fitness and more goodies from Trader Joe's. smilies/undecided.gif
Here's hoping they will bring stuff up next year!
