Rye, NY - While the water temperature may be on the cool side in May, warm, sunny days make sunbathing and playing in the sand high on everyone’s “to do” list at the 62 acre waterfront preserve.
The beach may be the biggest draw, but many visitors enjoy spending time strolling on the rolling lawns and along the tree and shrub-lined paths. The park’s historic duckpond has been restored to better than before with attractive wetland plants lining its shores.
The Park is open to everyone, through the purchase of daily parking and beach passes. Discounted parking and beach permits are available to all Town of Rye and City of Rye residents. Non-resident permits are available to Larchmont, Harrison and Mamaroneck residents.
Residents of Rye City, Port Chester, Rye Brook and Rye Neck can also purchase daily parking and beach access passes for $7 each on weekdays and $8 on weekends.
The non-resident daily parking fee is $10 per car, and beach access is $10 per person. On July 4th and Labor Day, parking will be $10 for everyone without permits. Children under 12 are free, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Park Rangers, parking attendants and other Park staff are on hand to answer questions, provide directions, and insure that all visitors have a safe, enjoyable experience when they visit the park. The park opens at 9 a.m. and closes at midnight. Beach hours (weather permitting) are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for swimming. The beach closes at 9 p.m. except on Wednesdays and Fridays when nearby Playland Amusement Park has its fireworks shows.
Rye Town Park will be hosting several special events during the summer, including a series of concerts co-sponsored with the Friends of Rye Town Park.
Parking fees are charged from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays. Special, lower rates are charged for those entering after 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
Seaside Johnnie’s restaurant is a high quality seafood dining facility located right at the park. Discounted parking passes can be purchased by people who are only coming for lunch.
