New Rochelle, NY - Runners throughout the region are invited to participate in the virgin running of the Paine to Pain Classic Trail Half-Marathon on the new Colonial Greenway on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008.
The Sound Shore Runners and Multisport Club, based in southern Westchester County, is putting on the race in cooperation with seven local municipalities – the Towns of Mamaroneck and Eastchester; the City of New Rochelle; the Villages of Scarsdale, Mamaroneck and Larchmont; and Westchester County Parks and Recreation.
Only the first 200 runners who register will gain the privilege of running 13.1 miles over hills, around hairpin turns, over rocks and roots, and through mud and streams in the first Paine to Pain Classic. The race begins at 9 a.m. at the Thomas Paine Cottage, North Avenue at Broadview, New Rochelle (across from New Rochelle High School). The entry fee is $35 in advance and $45 race day. Additional information and online registration can be found at www.soundshorerun.com/paine.
