Mt. Vernon, NY - Two members of the hometown New York Knicks organization have just confirmed their attendance for the August 15th Ben’s Bowling Bash & Celebrity Fundraiser.
Center Eddy Curry and Forward-Guard Quentin Richardson will be joining Chicago Bulls star guard Ben Gordon in an effort to raise money for his foundation and City of Mount Vernon Mayor Clinton I. Young’s ‘Save Our Sports’ initiative.
Also attending will be retired National Basketball Association player Eric Murdock who was the first round draft selection of the Utah Jazz in 1999 and enjoyed a successful nine year career in the league.
The above-mentioned celebrities join a rapidly growing cast of expected attendees which already include NBA stars Elton Brand (native of Peekskill, NY and a member of the Philadelphia 76ers), Emeka Okafor (Charlotte Bobcats) and Charlie Villanueva (Milwaukee Bucks). From the entertainment field, expected attendees include actor Jamie Hector (star of HBO’s hit series The Wire), rapper turned actor Dwight ‘Heavy D’ Myers, hip-hop legend Eric B. and radio personalities Ed Lover and Curt Flirt of Power105 in New York. Performing live will be WNBA pioneer and former New York Liberty center turned jazz singer Kym Hampton.
Ben’s Bowling Bash & Celebrity Fundraiser is a star-studded event created to raise money for Gordon’s non-profit foundation, the Ben Gordon New Life Foundation, which in turn, will donate at least 50% of the event’s net proceeds to Mount Vernon Mayor Clinton I. Young’s ‘Save Our Sports’ initiative. The event will be held at Homefield Bowl in Yonkers, NY.
