Yonkers, NY - With one in every eight Americans age 65 or older, cities are struggling to meet new challenges of land use, housing, public transportation and other facets of everyday life. Yonkers’ efforts, as well as those of other cities throughout the country, are highlighted in the National League of Cities' Nation's Cities Weekly.
Groundwork Yonkers organizes teams of older adults and youth to walk the streets and document street-level assets such as parks and schools, as well as problems such as broken lights, graffiti and litter.
55 Plus Yonkers Connection offers leadership skills training to older adults in Yonkers.
