White Plains YMCA Offers Help With Medicare Part D
Posted by Westchester.com

Westchester Senior NewsWhite Plains, NY - Beneficiaries have until December 31, 2007 to enroll or change their Medicare Part D drug plans for 2008.  As a service to our community the White Plains Family YMCA is offering our computer room and knowledgeable volunteers to assist seniors in carefully researching the available options before making a choice.

Seniors and concerned family members are welcome to participate in this program on Saturday, Decemember 15th, between 10:00am and 1:00 pm.  We are located at 250 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.

In just the last two years some premiums have increased MORE THAN SEVEN TIMES THE INITIAL OFFERING PRICE. But for the first time this year beneficiaries can visit Medicare's Web site at www.medicare.gov to get detailed information about the cost and coverage for Medicare Part D drug plan. By knowing the facts seniors may save hundreds - even thousands of dollars in 2008!  This can best be done with a computer.  The program that is being offered by the White Plains Family YMCA is specifically designed for those who do not have their own computers, or are not sufficiently confident to do this on their own.

Participants will be able to check out each and every Medicare Part D prescription plan by sitting with a trained volunteer at one of our computers for 15-20 minutes. They will need to bring their Medicare card and a list of medications including dosage and strength (or just bring their medicines in a bag)  At the end of the session they will take home a detailed report of the plans that are available to them and be able to compare the costs.

In a recent e-mail Congresswoman Nita Lowey states, "There are few issues that I care more about than ensuring the health and well-being of our nation's seniors."  The White Plains Family YMCA agrees which is why we are offering this program.  We have many programs at the Y specifically designed for active older adults. All participants of this program are welcome to take a custom tour of our facilities, and will recieve a complementary 5 day guest pass
