White Plains, NY - Are you concerned about the safety of an older driver? Are you an older driver who is finding driving more of a chore than a pleasure? If so, you may be interested in the series of free drop-in programs for older drivers and their family caregivers on five Mondays from Oct. 27 to Nov. 24.
The programs are presented by the Older Driver Family Assistance Network of Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services . Attendees will be able to speak with an expert on older driver and caregiver issues and will receive take-home literature on the topic.
November is National Family Caregiver Month, but the series gets a jump start on the topic on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave., Ossining, when the topic will be “Changes in Older Adults.”
The topic on Nov. 3 will be “Adapting to the Changing Driving Environment” at 11 a.m. at Kendal on Hudson, 1010 Kendal Way, Sleepy Hollow; and on Nov. 10 the topic will be “Driving and Dementia” at 2 p.m. at the Atria at Woodlands, 1017 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley.
“Transportation Alternatives” will be discussed Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at the New Rochelle Public Library , One Library Plaza, New Rochelle, and the Nov. 24 program will look at “Family Conversations About Driving” at 1:15 p.m. at the Lake Isle Country Club, 660 White Plains Road, Eastchester.
