White Plains, NY - Geri Brooks, RN, MSN, CS, GNP, of Nanuet, Director of Senior Services and Director of Professional Services, Westchester Caring Services, at White Plains Hospital Center (WPHC) has been named a member of the New York State Family Caregiver Council.
Ms. Brooks has worked at White Plains Hospital Center for 28 years, and has spent more than twenty of those as the Director of Senior Services. For the past seventeen years, Ms. Brooks has served a dual role as the Director of Professional Services for Westchester Caring Services, White Plains Hospital Center’s private licensed care agency.
Mary Spengler, Vice President of White Plains Hospital Center praises Ms. Brooks’ professional and personal qualities. “Geri is an outstanding nurse and community member. She is extremely dedicated to the issues of the aging.” Ms. Brooks has been on the New York State Health Care Provider Hudson Valley Chapter since 1998, currently serving as Treasurer and Board Member. In addition, she is as a Board Member of the Central Westchester Geriatric Committee, where she has served for 13 years.
The Family Caregiver Council was created last year by Governor Spitzer. The Council’s goals are to provide a strong statement of support for family caregivers; undertake a comprehensive mapping and evaluation of existing services and family caregiver needs; review key policies and practices; establish a mechanism to coordinate these activities and to propose new and expanded services and policy implementation; and focus on strengthening local agencies to reach, assist, and support caregivers.
