Valhalla, NY - Westchester Community College (WCC) is joining more than 1,000 other educational institutions in a January 30 teach-in; the largest in U.S. history. At the event, a number of the college’s professors will present lectures and host discussions on various aspects of global warming.
Focus the Nation, an unprecedented educational initiative on global warming solutions for America, is occurring at more universities and colleges in all fifty states. It will help prepare millions of students to become leaders in the largest civilizational challenge any generation has faced.
The college’s Faculty Senate, Westchester Community College Federation of Teachers, Student Senate, Board of Trustees, and President Joseph Hankin have endorsed the event, which will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Classroom Building, Room 200. The following topics will be presented by Westchester Community College faculty:
Eryn Kloko on the science behind global warming.
Robert Collis on the ecological impact.
Julia Daniels on the psychology of denial.
Farhad Ameen on the economics of global warming.
Russell Ippolito on the legal aspects of global warmingl.
Christolyn Williams on the impact on developing nations.
Chad Thompson on what we can do as individuals.
