 Dobbs Ferry, NY - Mercy College has announced that Julio Garcia of the graduating Class of 1987, a Partner and the Chief Financial Officer of Perella Weinberg Partners, will be honored at the College’s 27th Annual Trustees’ Dinner.
The event will be held April 1, 2008, at the Pierre Hotel in New York City, and is the College’s premier scholarship fund-raising event. Julio was selected as this year’s honoree because of his numerous personal and professional accomplishments and his history of giving back to the community.
“Julio Garcia is one of our most esteemed alumni,” said Mercy’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement Glenn Miller. “His is a terrific success story, and Mercy is proud to have played a role in his life.”
After graduating from Peekskill High School in 1982 and spending a semester at a college away from home, Julio returned to his hometown and took a job as a security guard at Mercy’s Peekskill Extension Center. With his mother’s strong encouragement to attend college, he decided to enroll at Mercy College full-time, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Julio married Elisa B. Garcia, Mercy College Class of 1989, whom he met in high school. He has enjoyed a tremendously successful 20-year career in the financial services industry. Julio’s philanthropic efforts include establishing the Jose Rodriguez and Ana Maria Garcia Memorial Scholarship at Peekskill High School (Peekskill, New York) in honor of his parents, his sister, and a childhood friend.
About Julio Garcia
Julio currently serves as a Partner and the Chief Financial Officer at Perella Weinberg Partners LP, an independent privately owned financial services firm that provides corporate advisory and asset management services to clients around the world. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners, Julio was a Partner and Chief Financial Officer at FrontPoint Partners LLC, an alternative asset management firm. Julio actively participated in the execution of FrontPoint’s growth of $100 million in assets under management to over $6 billion in less than a four-year period.
Prior to FrontPoint, Julio was Director of Finance at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM/DLJ) responsible for the accounting, reporting, and administration for over 60 investment partnerships with over $6 billion in assets under management. Julio was also a Vice President in DLJ Merchant Banking’s Controllers’ Group, responsible for the accounting and reporting of the private equity and private equity fund-of-funds business. Previously in his career, Julio held finance positions at Chancellor LGT Asset Management and was an audit manager with Ernst & Young. Julio is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of New York.
Julio resides in Westchester County, New York, with his wife and their four daughters.
