Somers, NY - First, Kennedy Catholic will be hosting the Somers Holocaust Memorial Commission’s “Evening of Reflections and Remembrance,” its annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony (or Yom Hashoah). The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
The evening will feature keynote speaker Commander USAF Lawrence Kaufman and Bernhard Storch of the Polish Army Division, who was personally involved with the liberation of death camps at Sobibor, Majdanek and Chelmno, as well as the concentration camp at Sachenhausen. Also, human rights studies projects created by students at Kennedy Catholic, North Salem and Somers high schools will be on display, with awards presented to the very best.
Secondly, the Kennedy Catholic baseball team was recently ranked second among all Class B schools by the New York State Sports Writers Association. The Gaels currently sits atop the Section 1 III-A Standings at 12-2, with a league record of 4-1. You can catch Kennedy Catholic in action next on Tuesday, May 6, at 4:30 p.m. versus Croton-Harmon.
