Ivy League Tutoring Company Coming To Westchester

Westchester School & Education NewsWhite Plains, NY - With Columbia University just a few train stops away, the Ivy League has never been too far out of sight for students and parents in Westchester County. Now, My Ivy Leaguer, a Manhattan-based tutoring company, is launching a branch in Westchester to put the Ivies within their reach.

My Ivy Leaguer offers SAT preparation as well as subject tutoring and foreign language lessons. The goal of the company is to raise students’ test scores, grades, and self-confidence to help high schoolers get into whatever schools they choose, Ivy League or otherwise.

All tutors working for My Ivy Leaguer in Westchester are Ivy League students or graduates, with years of tutoring experience and 99th-percentile test scores. They’re hired not only for their expertise in their fields, but for their ability to connect with high school students and meet each student’s needs individually, says company founder Anthony Green.

"We find the best teachers in the Ivy League student body and we bring them to our clients,” says Green, a former Katonah resident.  “Our results have been incredible - the combination of individual attention and extremely smart teachers seems to work.”

Green founded the company as an English major at Columbia University. He had worked for a number of tutoring and test-prep services, but found that they had a few common flaws. Most importantly, he noticed that these companies—Kaplan, Princeton Review, and others—suffered from a lack of individual attention. Their model was one-size-fits-all, but it wasn’t working for some students.

He started My Ivy Leaguer with a focus on flexibility. Each tutor designs a program for a student based on that student’s needs, goals, and schedules. “The first people we teach are our tutors,” Green said, “and what they learn is to cater to the specific abilities and needs of each student.”

The model was a huge success. My Ivy Leaguer’s client has grown rapidly. Not only did the students see immediate results—the company guarantees improvements after the first three sessions, or those sessions are free—they also saw lasting improvement. The average client saw an astounding 320-point improvement in SAT scores, and a demonstrable increase in class grades, comprehension, retention, and performance.

Bolstered by the success of the company in New York, Green looked to expand. He hired Matt Knauff, a Princeton University graduate, to help open a branch in Westchester. The company also hired another ten tutors in the New York area in anticipation of its growth in Westchester.

“These tutors are the best and the brightest, and they’re engaging people. They’re going to help their students learn,” said Knauff. “Whatever a student’s reach school is, their dream school, we’re going to make that possible for them.”

My Ivy Leaguer offers SAT prep and subject tutoring in dozens of areas, including foreign languages. To learn more about the company or to find a tutor, visit www.myivyleaguer.com.
