Irvington, NY – Six students participated in the All-State Music Conference that took place Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Rochester.
Participants included Erin Dawson (symphonic band), Yeana Hyun (symphony orchestra), and Mari Nakamura (symphony orchestra), Anya Palkowski (symphony orchestra alternate) Katie Sacchini (women’s chorus) and Diana Whitemore (mixed chorus).
These accomplished students study with Irvington High School band director Larry Corio, orchestra director Alan Goldberg and vocal music director Janet Gillespie.
“The passion for music, discipline, and work ethic of these students are astounding,” said Ms. Gillespie. “We are extremely proud of them and are thrilled that their parents and this community support musical excellence.”
In Rochester, the students spent three days in intensive rehearsals with distinguished conductors, culminating in performances at the Eastman School of Music. Their selection was based on solo performance adjudications. Over 4,000 music students statewide compete to be selected for these advanced ensembles.
