Pelham, NY - Gemm Learning, a Westchester-based learning intervention center and the largest provider of Fast ForWord in the U.S., has recently expanded, opening centers in Scarsdale, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut.
Unlike tutoring services, which typically re-teach content, Gemm Learning’s unique approach seeks to change the way children learn. Working with the concept of brain plasticity, the brain’s natural ability to adapt and change, the company’s programs target the root causes of children’s learning challenges rather than the symptoms. Children’s programs that rewire the brain to improve learning skills include FastForWord, FASTT Math and other leading therapies.
Studies show parents are investing heavily in academic supplements to help their children succeed in school. A report by MSNBC reveals that tutoring was a $3.5 billion dollar industry in 2005 and continues to grow rapidly.
Geoff Nixon, founder of Gemm Learning, is witnessing this trend first-hand: “The successes we’ve experienced in our Pelham Center and the strong demand for our programs inspired this expansion,” Nixon said. “Adding new centers is an extension of our commitment to providing resources for children to modify and improve learning skills to enhance academic performance.”
In addition to its children’s programs, the Greenwich learning center will be the first in Fairfield County to offer the Brain Fitness Program for mature adults. The Brain Fitness program is offered in all Gemm Learning Centers and is designed to improve memory and cognitive skills that have declined due to aging. Gemm Learning is also the first private-center in Westchester to offer the program. The company’s newest centers are located at 1481 Weaver Street in Scarsdale, New York and 1380 East Putnam Avenue, Old Greenwich, Connecticut.
