 White Plains, NY - The Alliance Française de Westchester is pleased to offer two new evening courses in their fall session, designed for those involved in French commerce.
“Français des Affaires” (Business French) will provide students with the vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and phrases critical to navigating French business environments. Topics will include customer service and management, banking, law, and computers. “France Contemporaine” (Contemporary France) will provide an overview of French history and values that are relevant to today’s French culture. Topics will include the foundations of French government and values, and constitutional issues today in the face of France’s increasingly diverse population.
The Fall Session begins September 15th, and runs 10 weeks. Français des Affaires and France Contemporaine will each meet one evening per week for 90 minutes, and be kept small in order to accommodate students’ proficiency with the French language as well as their business interests, needs and specialties. Both classes will be taught by Pierre-Yves Laporte, who has a Doctorate in Law and Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Bordeaux, and a Master’s Degree in Political Science and African Studies from UCLA. Monsieur Laporte has a career in banking, insurance and financial consulting in the U.S., and is a member of Rotary.
The Alliance Française hosts a variety of classes and events, including their popular Papotage – Café Pause – loosely translated as Coffee Break Chats – and a French Book Club.
