Knitwits
The Knitwits will be selling beautiful handmade knits, which will be on sale in Jazzman’s Café next to the White Plains Hospital Center Lobby on January 28th from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm. Some of the items on sale include sweaters for the entire family, hats, scarves, mittens, afghans, baby blankets, toys, pet sweaters, and more.
Stroke of Genius
Join us on Thursday, January 3rd at 7:15 pm at the Jacob Burns Film Center for live music, film and discussion. Stroke of Genius, the story of a celebrated advertising creative director Dan Mountain’s recovery from a near-fatal stroke is a love story and a moving testament to the regenerative power of the human brain and spirit. A Q&A will follow the film with director Bahman Soltani, Katonah Resident/Film composer Marc Black, and Richard Sweet, MD, Medical Director of the Stroke Program at White Plains Hospital Center. Blood Pressure Screening

Cancer Support Group
A cancer diagnosis can turn your world upside down. Join the WPHC cancer support group and learn that you are not alone. The group meets on Mondays, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, at the Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center, 2-4 Longview Ave., White Plains. For information or to register, call 914-681-2701.
Caregiver Resource & Support Group
This program, sponsored by the WPHC Department of Senior Services, provides information and support to individuals caring for older adults. Epilepsy Support Group
Please join us and other adults with epilepsy, or those adults caring for family or friends with epilepsy, to share experiences and strategies on how to best live with this sometimes-puzzling disorder. Heart Club
The Heart Club Support Group provides educational lectures for heart patients, families and friends. Sessions are presented by physicians and other health care personnel. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 8th at 7:00 pm in Jazzman’s Café and will focus on “Dealing with the Stress of the Holidays.” Free blood pressure screenings are available upon request after each meeting. Huntington’s Disease Caregivers Support Group

Ostomy Support Group
A support group for ostomy patients and those with related intestinal disorders. All ages are welcome for open and frank discussions of life as an “ostomate” in a casual setting. Perinatal Bereavement Support Group
Free support group for those who have lost a pregnancy at any stage or have had an infant die. Grandparents are also welcome. This group meets in the back of Jazzman’s Café in the Main Lobby. For dates, times and more information, please call 914-681-2LOS (2567).
Stroke Support Group
Support and education for stroke survivors, their family and caregivers. A certified speech/language pathologist facilitates communication for those with communication difficulties. Weekly presentations and programs are facilitated by community and hospital professionals. The group meets on Thursdays from 11:00 am – 12 pm, in the WPHC Centennial Room. Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease Support Group (YOPD)
This forum is for those affected by YOPD (patient, partner, parent, or friend) to share concerns, discuss problems and solutions, and ease any sense of isolation. Anxiety & Phobia Support Groups
Ongoing support groups for people with phobias, panic attacks and anxiety disorders meet Wednesdays at 12:00 pm and Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. All meetings are held in Room 4310, at White Plains Hospital Center. Cost is $20 per meeting. Call 914-681-1038 for registration or additional information.
Depression Treatment Program
An innovative eight-week program led by Center Director, Fred Neuman, MD, for the treatment of long-standing depression. This psychological condition, marked by low self-esteem, pessimism, and passivity, is responsive to a psychological treatment: cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Freedom to Fly Workshop
Six-session program held at Westchester County Airport and led by Martin Seif, Ph.D. Learn to overcome your fear of flying with education and supportive exposure. Group members participate in a graduation flight to Boston. Call 681-1038 for more information.
Health Anxiety Program
A six-week program for people with an exaggerated fear of physical illness and who worry constantly about their health. Call 681-1038 for more information.
Obsessive Compulsive Support Group
Learn how to use cognitive-behavioral and yoga relaxation techniques to manage and overcome obsessions and compulsions in a supportive environment. Group meets Tuesdays, at 6:00 pm. The cost is $20 per session. Call 914-681-1038 for registration or more information.
Phobia Workshops
Participate in nine weekly group meetings with a professional, and seven one-hour practice sessions with a phobia counselor. Overcome fears and phobias using a cognitive behavioral and supportive exposure approach. Documented 92% success rate. Public Speaking/Social Anxiety Program
Weekly meetings focused on social anxiety and public speaking. Work at your own pace, attempting manageable yet challenging exercises without pressure to perform. Childbirth Classes

Child Passenger Safety Seat Installation
Last year, our inspectors looked at more than 1400 child safety seats and only 10 of them were properly installed by parents! Our safety specialists will install your car seat and provide tips on keeping your child safe in the car. The next seminar on child safety will be on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm by appointment. On the 1st and 3rd Saturday there will be a child safety seat check from 11:00 am- 2:00 pm at the Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Avenue, White Plains. Prenatal Exercise Class
Stay fit and comfortable during your pregnancy with exercise classes designed especially for your changing body. This class, taught by physical therapists, will help you strengthen muscles, relieve back pain, prepare for labor, improve body mechanics, decrease bladder problems and enhance confidence. You can begin at any time during your pregnancy. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Dickstein Center, 2-4 Longview Ave., White Plains. The Men’s Health Forum
If you or your spouse has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, is currently in treatment, or has completed treatment, this forum is for you. Each month a guest speaker discusses various health topics related to prostate cancer. Following the lecture, spouses meet separately with a volunteer family support person. Mental Imagery
Mental Imagery is a powerful healing tool used for more than 5,000 years. The mind and the images it creates can influence all aspects of emotional and physical well-being.
