White Plains, NY - White Plains Hospital Center’s talented and esteemed volunteer knitting group, the Knit Wits, recently donated $50,000 in proceeds toward the Hospital’s new Emergency Department.
The Knit Wits meet regularly to fashion sweaters, hats, blankets and other hand-made creations which are then put on display in monthly lobby sales throughout the year. The knitters meet weekly at the Hospital to share friendship and knitting techniques and many clock in additional volunteer hours at home completing the beautiful hand knit items.
Since their inception in 1992, the Knit Wits have made significant contributions to the Hospital's success by raising nearly $500,000 in proceeds.
The Hospital’s new Emergency Department will be completed early next year and will feature many patient-friendly amenities, including a separate Pediatric Treatment area.
