White Plains, NY - A free health discussion for healthcare professionals, entitled “Perinatal and Postpartum Mood Disorders: Current Status of a Public Health Crisis” will be held Thursday, February 5th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at White Plains Hospital Center’s Auditorium on 41 East Post Road.
Susan Dowd Stone MSW, LCSW, will provide important and current information about perspectives and treatments of perinatal and postpartum mood disorders.
Susan Dowd Stone has a Masters Degree in Social Work and was president of Postpartum Support International 2006 through 2008 and currently chairs PSI’s President Advisory Council. She has extensive experience in the area of women’s reproductive mental health.
800,000 American women will suffer from a perinatal mood disorder this year making these conditions a national public health crisis, yet only 15% of those women will ever be diagnosed and treated. This presentation is geared toward healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, etc to address and discuss this crisis.
