Valhalla, NY - Lyme disease season is once again upon us and the Lyme Disease Practice of New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) will open its “walk-in” center on June 2nd to help those who need evaluation and treatment.
This is the 20th year of the Lyme Disease Practice. During June, July and August, the center will be open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 7 PM.
The Lyme Disease Practice of New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center is located in room #149 of the Munger Pavilion on the Valhalla, NY campus. The center is open for adults seeking treatment for Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis (anaplasmosis), babesiosis or tick bites.
“Lyme disease can be acquired in your own backyard as well as in areas that are prone to tick infestation,” said Dr. Gary Wormser, Director of the Lyme Disease Practice. “If you spend any time in these areas, always check your body and clothing frequently. Ticks are often found in and around the thigh, groin and underarms as well as behind the knees and the ears and on the neck at the hairline.”
