Harrison, NY - On Wednesday, September 17, St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester in Harrison is hosting a community education presentation on the abuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
The lecture, “Popping and Swapping,” will be given by Abby Wasserman, M.D., Director of Community Liaison at the hospital. The lecture will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the St. Vincent’s Westchester Conference Center. The presentation is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided, and free on-site parking is also available.
The non-medical use and abuse of prescription and over-the-counter prescription drugs among adolescents and young adults is a growing pubic health problem. During this presentation, Dr. Wasserman will give an overview of this issue, discuss prevention and treatment strategies and point out the issues families face in helping an adolescent deal with chemical dependency. Following the presentation, Dr. Wasserman will answer audience questions.
