14th Annual Cancer Awareness Walk

Westchester Health NewsYorktown Heights, NY - Support Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides free support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, is now accepting registration for their 14th Annual Support-A-Walk to be held on October 5, 2008 at FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights, NY.

The three-mile walkathon is held in the fall each year to increase awareness about breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection’s free support services. The date is selected in honor of National Ovarian Awareness Cancer Month in September and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Many participants walk in honor of loved ones who have been affected by these diseases. Each year, thousands of area residents participate.

All are welcomed to walk as individuals or to form teams to walk together. There will be refreshments, musical entertainment, raffles, and face painting. Honorary Chairpersons are actress Glenn Close; Matt Sampson, morning and daytime co-anchor for News12 Westchester; and Brenda Resnick Spano, First Lady of Westchester and Child Care Advocate. Kacey Morabito, part the popular radio team“ Mike and Kacey in the Morning” on 100.7 WHUD, will be the Emcee.

Support Connection’s mission is to provide emotional, social and educational support services to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
