Yonkers, NY - The Yonkers City Council Green Policy Task Force will celebrate its first birthday by hosting a week’s worth of green events throughout the city, from April 20 – 27.
From a city-wide environmental film series, energy saving workshops for homeowners and hands-on educational activities for the kids to special admission deals to the Hudson River Museum and the New York Water Taxi, Yonkers’ community-based organizations, schools, government and non-governmental agencies, and others are hosting events and activities designed to educate residents about preserving and sustaining our natural environment.

Friday, April 18
8:30am-3pm- 565 Warburton Ave. Riverside HS Environmental Day: “RED is GREEN”
Riverside High School students and faculty will work with the Green Policy Task Force to offer a full day of eco-centric activities to kick off Green Week before starting Spring Break. 25 student-made Environmental Awareness public service announcements will be screened, and students will learn about Environmental Justice and advocacy.

City officials will talk with students about the importance of the environment and share in a tree-planting activity at the Yonkers Recycling Center.
