Westchester Government NewsWhite Plains, NY - Whether you are a veteran of Operation Iraqi or Enduring Freedom, Operation Desert Storm, Vietnam, Korea or World War II, you will likely find something you can use at Westchester County’s next Veterans Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, April 24.

Like the previous three Town Hall Meetings, there will be a panel of experts that will talk about business plans and loans and employment opportunities, as well as resource booths related to going into business or gaining employment.

Representatives from the Small Business Administration, the Small Business Development Centers, the New York State Department of Labor, the county Office of Economic Development, Westchester Community College and other places will provide information and open doors for the thousands of veterans in Westchester,” said County Executive Andy Spano.

The meeting will be held over two sessions at the Westchester County Center.  The first session will be held from 2-4 p.m. and the second from 5–7 p.m.  Both will cover the same topics.  Please call the Veterans Service Agency at (914) 995-2145 to RSVP for the event.

In addition to speakers from the Small Business Administration, NYS Department of Labor, Westchester County Office of Economic Development and the county Department of Human Resources, many other organizations plan to have resource booths at this event. The county Tax Commission, the Bronx VA Hospital and representatives from several veterans organizations will have information booths available to answer individual questions.  County Clerk Tim Idoni will have his staff available to assist veterans in filling their most important document – their discharge papers.

“The Veterans Town Hall Meeting has proven to be an excellent way to provide information and services to our veterans,” said Tom Meier, director of the county’s Veteran Service Agency.  “Family members with loved ones currently serving are also welcome to attend to gather information for when they return. Local veterans organizations and VSO’s are also welcome as they are often times the first place that retuning veterans turn to for help, and keeping them informed is important.”

For more information about the Veterans Town Hall Meeting or veteran benefits, contact the Veterans’ Service Agency, 112 E. Post Rd, White Plains, at (914) 995-2146.
