Yonkers, NY - The following is a public notice issued by the city of Yonkers.
The city's seasonal ban on gas powered leaf blowers goes into effect today and remains in effect throughout the summer. The ban applies to all residential and commercial property owners as well as landscaping companies.
This will be the third summer that the ban on gas powered leaf blowers will be in effect. It was adopted by the City Council in 2007.
Section 91-31 of the City Code prohibits the operation of gas powered leaf blowers within city limits from June 1 through September 30 annually. Violations of the code can result in a summons with a fine of $250.00.
Summonses are generally issued to landscaping companies with warnings issued to property owners. Property owners should notify their landscaping company that the season ban is in effect.
Questions about the seasonal ban on gas powered leaf blowers can be directed to the Yonkers Help Line at 914-377-HELP (4357).
