Westchester Government NewsWhite Plains, NY - County Executive Andy Spano and District Attorney Janet DiFiore will be honored by the National Coalition for Family Justice, for their efforts on behalf of children and families in Westchester.

Also to be honored at the coalition’s May 3 “Kids Count Dinner” will be the late Ruth Tetamore, an advocated for children in the Yonkers Family Court.

The Coalition for Family Justice is a grassroots organization that focuses on making the court system family- and user-friendly. It was founded in 1988 by Monica Getz to help families in trouble, in particular children and family members impacted by domestic violence and addictions. The coalition – with its array of volunteer lawyers, financial planners, therapists and others – estimates it has helped about 10,000 people over the last two decades.

In announcing the selection of Spano and DiFiore, Getz said, “They exemplify the team work necessary for the betterment and well-being of Westchester families. Their actions, public statements and accessibility have made a difference to the  children and families of this county. Thanks largely to their efforts, domestic violence and sexual abuse have been met by zero tolerance at all levels of county government and law enforcement.”

The May 3 dinner will take place at Shadowbrook, 821 N. Broadway, Irvington beginning with a reception at 6 p.m. For tickets information, call the coalition at 591-5753.

Ruth Tetamore was an outstanding individual and key to the welfare of my adopted son, Daniel (Cremin) Becker. We valued her love, care, and concern for others as she labored for Danny's benefit when CPS removed him from an abusive mother. We will always remember Ruth.

Sincerely,
Jim Becker
