Yonkers, NY - Evolution Arts, the new art exhibit series that the Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District introduced in April, will continue Sunday, May 18 from 3 to 5 pm.
The exhibit sites—clustered together on Main Street and the Yonkers waterfront— will enable visitors to stroll through all of them during the exhibit hours while enjoying the beautiful Yonkers Waterfront
The locations for viewing the art and meeting the artists are: “The Loft Dance & Fitness” and Metro 92 (both at 92 Main Street); Hudson Park, the luxury rental apartment complex along the Yonkers waterfront and 66 Main Street which had it’s official cutting just last week during Business Week.
Evolution Arts— which is free of charge to the public—is open to artists throughout Westchester and the region. The idea for the new art exhibit series originated with Jacqueline Bouet, owner of “The Loft Dance & Fitness” and a member of the Board of Directors of the Yonkers Downtown BID; Jef Campion, a local artist and downtown resident and Steve Sansone, Executive Director of the Yonkers Downtown BID. The Loft Dance & Fitness has a gallery of art in the lobby featuring Mr. Campion’s works as well as other artists and pieces from The Animazing Gallery featuring Victoria Montesinos. In addition, this month Evolution Arts will feature photography by Ana Bernstein, Serigraphs by David Schuzz & Everhart, Paintings by Dena Stultzer, as well as by Andrew Gelfand “Tantric Etudes”.
Mr. Sansone said: “Ever since we launched Evolution Arts a month ago, there’s been significant interest by artists to showcase their work in this strikingly appealing venue that’s designed to attract visitors to enjoy a spring afternoon in our exciting Main Street and breathtaking waterfront as well as provide our neighbors with a local cultural venue in their backyard.”
Artists wishing to submit their art to the next Evolution Arts exhibit on Sunday, June 15, need to e-mail up to five digital images (640 x 480 pixels) of their work, including information about the medium, size and any display requirements. Artists will be responsible for furnishing easels, wall hangings or pedestals and insurance. They are also required to be present during the exhibit hours. Submissions should be sent to

Evolution Arts is one of several new and exciting events that the Yonkers Downtown BID is introducing this year as part of its mission to promote the downtown district which is undergoing revitalization. In March, it launched Let’s Dance Downtown!, an evening of dancing at the Roosevelt Ballroom.
With the approach of summer, The Yonkers Downtown BID will again co-sponsor the highly successful annual Riverfest and outdoor summer Main Street Film Series at Dusk and the Jazz & Blues at Dusk concerts.
The Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District was created to promote and implement the economic vitality of the District and the City of Yonkers. The Yonkers Downtown BID is also designed to maintain the downtown streets, contribute to public safety, landscape the district, market special events and create promotional opportunities to highlight the area. Additionally, the Yonkers Downtown BID will preserve and encourage the cultural, historic, tourist and civic interest of the District and the City of Yonkers.
