Westchester Entertainment NewsPurchase, NY - The invigorating sounds of Yamato, The Drummers of Japan, resonate at The Performing Arts Center Purchase College at a concert on Friday, Dec. 7th at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $50, $40 and $30.

With a massive six-foot diameter drum made from a 400-year-old tree as their centerpiece, the highly skilled musicians of Yamato play dozens of drums  of various sizes, blending phenomenally powerful and dramatic drumming with music of delicate beauty and humor.  Athleticism, superhuman feats of coordination and incredible intensity are the trademarks of the irresistible ensemble.

"If you're looking for inspiring drumming and infectious dance rhythms, you'll be disappointed,” noted The Guardian of London, adding, “This is much, much more."

Yamato is part of this season’s World Stage Series at The Performing Arts Center.  The series continues with the Moiseyev Dance Company (Jan.13th) and Angélique Kidjo (Apr. 4th).

For more information, and to buy tickets, contact The Performing Arts Center ticket office (914-251-6200) or log onto The Center’s website at http://www.artscenter.org.

The Center's 30th season is made possible, in part, by the Basic Program Support Grant of the Westchester Arts Council with funds from Westchester County Government.

Purchase College is located 28 miles northeast of New York City at the Connecticut border.  The college, part of the State University of New York, is a major institution of public higher education encompassing the liberal arts and sciences, professional training in the performing and visual arts, continuing education, The Neuberger Museum of Art, and The Performing Arts Center.
