Valhalla, NY - Westchester Community College (WCC) is presenting its Poets and Writers Series this spring, inviting the best of today’s writers to share their secrets with literary aficionados. The two events in the Classroom Building, Room 200 are free and open to the public.
BLAIR will read from his work on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. and again at 11:00 a.m. BLAIR is a National Poetry Slam Champion and a HBO Def Jam Poet. He has been nominated for seven Detroit Music Awards, including a 2007 nomination for Outstanding Acoustic Artist. He has been named Real Detroit Weekly Readers Poll's Best Solo Artist and The Metro Times Best Urban Folk Poet. He was Poetry Editor at The Furnace magazine. Blair delivers poetry and music lectures at universities, colleges and high schools across the country. BLAIR’s one-man show, Burying the Evidence, premiered to a standing room only crowd at Detroit’s Broadway Theater.
DAVE ANDERSON will read from his work on Tuesday, March 3 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Anderson is a Pulitzer Prize winner, capturing the 1981 award for distinguished commentary for his long-running New York Times sports column. He is the sports author of 21 books and has written more than 350 magazine articles. Anderson is a 1994 winner of the Associated Press Sports Editors Red Smith Award for distinguished sports column writing. He was inducted into the National Sports Writers and Sportscasters Hall of Fame in 1990. In 1974, he won the Nat Fleischer Award for excellence in boxing journalism. In 1972, he won the E.P. Dutton Award for the best sports feature story of the year.
