Westchester Entertainment NewsPelham, NY - The Picture House announced the launch of a new series, Reel Insider, which will be presented on Tuesday nights, 5 times a season.

The summer season will be the first and will start in June and run through August. Audiences will have the ability to catch the newest in independent, foreign and documentary film and take part in discussions with established critics and on occasion, filmmakers and actors. Tickets can be purchased as a series subscription or to individual events. Every screening will include a complimentary reception with refreshments, starting at 7:00 p.m., the film at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a critic-led discussion.

June 2nd marks the first of the summer Reel Insider screenings with MOON, directed by Duncan Jones and starring Sam Rockwell. Peter Travers, senior editor and film critic of Rolling Stone magazine will host the series launch with Mr. Jones as his guest. A hit at the Sundance Film Festival, MOON stars Mr. Rockwell as a lone astronaut who is finishing a three-year stint harvesting helium energy.  His only companion on the long mission is his ship’s computer, Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey).  Things unravel quickly when Sam begins to hallucinate and has an accident with one of the lunar rovers.

“This unique preview series is an opportunity to bring together moviegoers from all over the region, introduce them to a diversity of programming, and expand our film community,” said Jennifer Christman, Executive Director of the Picture House.

“Audiences will be exposed to films from all over the world that they otherwise wouldn’t have a chance to see, with the added value of critical discussion and analysis. We want audiences to experience movies in a way that cannot be replicated at the standard multiplex,” said Will McCord, Producer of Film Programs. He added, “We’re also hoping that the pre-screening reception will allow our audience to connect and talk about film in a meaningful way”.

Tickets for the Reel Insider series are available now on the Picture House website, www.thepicturehouse.org.  Information on the upcoming dates and films for the series will be published on the website as well.
