Mt. Kisco, NY - A young girl’s magical fairy tale dream of a handsome prince, waltzing flowers, and a beautiful snow-covered landscape complete with a Sugar Plum Fairy, will come true when the Westchester Ballet Company presents its 12th annual production of “The Nutcracker” during four performances in December at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
The performance is sponsored by Westchester County Parks and the Friends of the Westchester Ballet Company.
For more than 20 years, the Westchester Ballet Company has been thrilling audiences in Westchester with its magical production of this holiday classic that has become a tradition for families throughout Westchester. The production features 90 professionally trained student dancers from communities throughout Westchester and neighboring counties, along with two professional guest soloists. Under the direction of Beth Fritz-Logrea and Jean Logrea, this production includes spectacular scenery and costumes, classic choreography and special stage effects that rival the best productions in the New York metropolitan area. And, best of all, this family event is close to home at very affordable prices!
Under the direction of Beth Fritz-Logrea and Jean Logrea, the Westchester Ballet Company is one of the oldest community ballet companies in the United States. It was founded in 1950 by Iris Merrick, who began the annual productions of The Nutcracker at the Scarborough School's Beechwood Theatre and at the County Center.
Performances will take place on Friday, December 14, 10 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 16, 2 p.m.
Advance ticket prices are $18 for adults, $12 for children (age 12 and under) and seniors; all tickets are $22 on the day of the performance.
Tickets are available at the County Center box office, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling (845) 454-3388, at www.ticketmaster.com or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains, at the junction of the Bronx River Parkway and Tarrytown Road (Route 119).
Parking is $4 per car at the County Center parking lot. The County Center building and parking lots are barrier-free and accessible to the disabled.
