 Rye, NY - Rye Town Park is opening its summer concert series with a performance by the Connecticut-based “Sun Kings Caribbean Party Band.” The concert is co-sponsored by the Friends of Rye Town Park.
The concert will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at the park’s south pavilion, located near the Dearborn Avenue entrance to the park. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free, and parking at Rye Town Park will be free after 6:00 p.m.
The Sun Kings play popular music done Caribbean style. Well known Reggae, Soca, and Calypso songs combined with popular music re-arranged "Caribbean style" make up the Sun Kings repertoire.
The Sun Kings are a five-piece band of seasoned entertainers featuring steel pan, guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums. All members sing and add percussion as well.
The Sun Kings cover tunes by such artists as Bob Marley, Harry Belafonte, Jimmy Cliff, Jimmy Buffett, as well as Caribbean style Beatles and much more. People can get a sneak preview of the Sun Kings’ music by visiting their web site: www.sunkingscpb.com
All concerts will be held rain or shine. Picnicking is welcome. Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs. Dining is available at the nearby Seaside Johnnie’s Restaurant.
