Rye, NY - Rye Town Park and the Friends of Rye Town Park are sponsoring a series of five free concerts at the south pavilion of Rye Town Park during the summer of 2009.
The concerts are part of the park’s centennial celebration. Rye Town Park was opened to the public in late June of 1909. Popular songs that year included “By The Light of the Silvery Moon”, “I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now,” and “She Sells Sea Shells.”
The 2009 concerts feature the music of high quality Westchester and Connecticut based bands, playing a wide range of popular music ideal for singing and/or dancing along.
The concerts will be held on consecutive Tuesdays starting on June 30th. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.
In addition to free admission to the concerts, parking is free at the park after 6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The concerts will be held rain or shine. Picnicking is welcome, and dining is available at the nearby Seaside Johnnie’s restaurant.
