Purchase, NY - The Academy® Award winning Soweto Gospel Choir returns by popular demand to The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m.
The most successful vocal group to emerge from South Africa since Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the 26-member choir draws on the best talent from the many churches in and around Soweto to celebrate the inspirational power of African gospel music. In addition to singing tribal, traditional and popular African and Western gospel, the group mixes in Jamaican reggae, American pop, a capella and spiritually themed secular songs.
Created in 2002, the choir has performed throughout Africa, Europe and Australia in sold-out venues, prompting rave reviews and standing ovations for their charismatic, universally appealing performances.
Tickets are $62.50, $52.50 and $42.50.
