The next and final concert of this series for the 2008 season will be on Saturday, July 26, and will feature a program of “Early Classics,” with compositions by Handel, Mozart and Beethoven.

The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra is one of the region’s cultural treasures. The orchestra debuted in 1965, and since then has grown to a full-scale orchestra of 70 to 100 professional musicians with a seven-concert regular season. The RSO, which has become an outstanding orchestral ensemble with first-rate soloists, plays to near-capacity houses and garners rave reviews.

Petko Dimitrov is Assistant Conductor for the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Dimitrov has been studying and working in the United States since 2001, but has been a student of music since his childhood. In his native country of Bulgaria, he has studied with such conductors as Ivan Bakalov, Vassil Kazandjiev, and Rossen Milanov. He has also been active as a conductor of a chamber ensemble of The New Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are priced at $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for children 6 – 12 and free for children under age 6. All proceeds from sales of tickets benefit the Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc. for the purpose of constructing the Glass House Conservatory – a large greenhouse – at the arboretum.
