Port Chester Arts Council Presents All Shook Up

Westchester Arts & Entertainment NewsPort Chester, NY - The Port Chester Council for the Arts, in cooperation with the Port Chester Recreation Department, proudly presents All Shook Up, a jukebox musical featuring the music of the classic rock star Elvis Presley, July 17-19 at 8 PM at the Crawford Park Mansion on Ridge Street in Rye Brook, N.Y.

Christina Colangelo directs this musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by the King. Cindy Moore is the musical director.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for senior citizens and students. Seating is limited. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling 914-939-3183.

All Shook Up, with a book by Joe DiPietro, is based on the plot of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Set in 1955, somewhere in middle America, this is the story of one girl's dream and how a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll.

The cast features Kelly Budde, Port Chester as Miss Sandra; Joy Arzaga, Yonkers, as Mayor Matilda Hyde;  Julie Colangelo, Port Chester, as Sylvia; Jessica Martin, Port Chester, as Natalie Haller; Julianne Seiter, Brookfield, Conn., as Lorraine;  Tori Lauzun, Brooklyn, as Henrietta; Jeffrey Aldana, Port Chester, as Chad; Brian Beadle, Rye Brook, as Jim Haller; Randy Lesko, Port Chester, as Dennis; Jason Summers, Brooklyn, as Dean Hyde; and  Mickey Melillo, New Rochelle, as Sheriff Earl. The ensemble includes Jolie Vita and Phyllis Maguire of Port Chester; Anna Francesca Stabile of Stamford, Conn.; and Jennifer Gizzo of Eastchester, with cameo appearances by Sean McKinney and Andrew Benowich of Rye Brook and Sergio Marroquin of Port Chester.

Christina Colangelo is currently an English and Drama teacher at Blind Brook High School, where she is also the High School Theater Director.  Most recently she was nominated for a High School Theater Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Director for BBHS's award winning Spring 2008 production of Fiddler on the Roof.  Colangelo’s previous directing credits for the Port Chester Council for the Arts include The Boyfriend, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, A Chorus Line, Pippin, Six Degrees of Separation, Into the Woods and last summer's Songs for a New World. She also directed The Crucible and Bye, Bye Birdie for Blind Brook High School. She holds a B.A. in Theater and Drama from Indiana University, Bloomington, a M.S. in School Counseling from the College of New Rochelle and a M.A. in 7-12 Adolescent Education in English from Mercy College. She is the third generation of female directors on the Port Chester stage, following in the footsteps of her mother, Denise Colangelo and grandmother, Camille Linen.

Cindy Moore has directed over 25 shows for children and adults for the Port Chester Council for the Arts, including productions of Godspell, Pippin, The Sound of Music, Cinderella Shakespeare, Peter Pan and The Wiz. She is also on the staff of Westco Productions, serving as musical director for the Theater for Young Audiences series and Creative Theater Workshop program, and has served as composer and lyricist for several of Westco’s original productions for young audiences. She is a professional vocalist and performs at various clubs with the bands Class Act and Reunion. She is also a musical director for the Rye Arts Center.

The Port Chester Council for the Arts was founded in 1981 and has mounted over 100 productions which have featured over 2,000 adults and children. Today, the Port Chester Council for the Arts presents children’s, youth and adult theatre productions each summer along with productions for adults and teens throughout the year. The PCCFA also runs educational arts-based programs including an after-school program and an artist-in-residence program for grades K-5 in conjunction with the Port Chester elementary schools, and presented the first National Arts in the School Day in April 2008.
